Rising to the Challenge
“Capital Link CSR in Greece” will organize for the 6th consecutive year the Annual Corporate Social Responsibility Conference “Rising to the Challenge” on Monday, June 27th, 2016 at the HILTON ATHENS HOTEL under the auspices of The Municipality of Maroussi & the Piraeus Chamber of Commerce & Industry and with the support of the Representation of the European Commission in Greece & the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce & Entrepreneurship.

The conference will present initiatives that contribute to the stimulation of entrepreneurship and will also address major challenges that the Greek society is confronting with today.

Capitalizing on our 20-year track record with the organization of uniquely successful conferences, Capital Link has pioneered a series of CSR-focused forums. All Capital Link’s forums (in New York, London, Athens and Shanghai) combine unique informational and networking opportunities.

Our Forum which traditionally gets 1,000+ delegates is regarded as a key platform for bridging communication between companies, citizens and NGOs aiming at building effective relationships between all. The Forum has two sides – business and social.

The Introductory key note address of the conference will be held by the Professor Mrs. Louka Katseli, Chair of the Board of Directors of the National Bank of Greece, who will also present a Bank’s innovative initiative, the Act4Greece, aiming to fund and to promote social and development activities.

From the Business side, the Forum aims to highlight the funding of small and medium-sized enterprises and the Financial support of the European Organizations. The Forum will close with a panel discussion comprised of Distinguished Greek American Business Leaders.

The section opens with the introductory speech of Mr. Korkidis, President of the Hellenic Confederation of Commerce & Entrepreneurship (ESEE) & Piraeus Chamber of Commerce and Industry.

     Supporting Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs)
This section will highlight the ways of supporting and providing financing of funds to the Small and Medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). The panel will be moderated by First Athens with the participation of the Atlantic Bank of New York, the Odyssey Venture Partners and the Libra Group.

     The Financial support of the European Organizations
The section entitled “Investing for Growth – Enhancing Entrepreneurship & Innovation”, aims to present and develop the European investment initiatives and programs aiming to strengthen the Greek entrepreneurship. This precise section will be moderated by Potamitis Vekris Law Firm and in the panel will also participate the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD), the International Finance corporation (IFC), the European Investment Fund (EIF) and the European Investment Bank (EIB).

     Greek Americans Business Leaders Panel Discussion
A group of Greek American Business Leaders will present their views and initiatives on how Greece can be put back on the Global investors agenda. Messrs. John P. Calamos, Dean Dakolias, C. Dean Metropoulos, John Koudounis & Nikos Mouyiaris will participate and Mr. Constantine Karides of Reed Smith will moderate the panel.

From the social responsibility side, the Forum offers the opportunity to approximately 100 Organizations from all over Greece, to showcase and communicate their programs, needs and objectives by exhibiting in a specially reserved space where the Organizations representatives can meet and interact with the Forum participants.

     Supporting of Diaspora Organizations & Greek Foundations
The introductory speech of the section will be held by Ambassador Mr. Loucas Tsilas, the panel will be moderated by Mr. Fanis Papathanasiou Senior Diplomatic Editor & Anchor ERT (Greek Public TV) and interventions will be made from Mr. D. Plessas of Lockheed Martin Aeronautics/International, Mr. G. Patounis, Mayor of Amaroussion, President of Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, & President of the Medical Association of Athens, the Hellenic Medical Society of New York, the Hellenic Relief Foundation, the Doctors of the world Greece and the Solidarity Now. On behalf of the Foundations, presentations will be made by the John S. Latsis Public Benefit Foundation and the Stelios Philanthropic Foundation.

     Greek Companies: CSR Programs & Initiatives
Presentations will be made by the extremely active companies in the field of CSR: COCA COLA Tria Epsilon, Oracle Hellas, Novartis Hellas, WIND Hellas and ΕΥ.

Mrs. Olga Gerovasili will honor with her presence the Award ceremony and will also make a brief intervention representing the Prime Minister Mr. Alexis Tsipras.

This year the International “2016 Capital Link CSR Leadership Award” will be presented to Mr. Nikos Mouyiaris, Founder & CEO of Mana Products Inc, as a small tribute and acknowledgement for the tremendous support and philanthropy he is offering to Greece, Cyprus and the Greek diaspora. Mr. Dimitris Mardas, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs – International Economic Relations & Investments will present the award to Mr. Mouyiaris.

The Greek “2016 Capital Link CSR Leadership Award” will be presented to Mr. Gregorios Stergioulis, CEO of Hellenic Petroleum S.A. as a recognition of HELPE’s various social contribution. Mr. George Patoulis, Mayor of Amaroussion, President of Central Union of Municipalities of Greece, & President of the Medical Association of Athens will present the Greek “2016 Capital Link CSR Leadership Award” to Mr. Gregorios Stergioulis.

Entrepreneur, innovator and philanthropist, Nikos Mouyiaris is the Founder and CEO of Mana Products, Inc., one of the world’s most prestigious cosmetics manufacturers and developers. Established in 1975 with a mere $6,000.00 that Nikos borrowed from his brother, today Mana employs over 1000 people and is a partner to many of the world’s largest and most successful beauty brands.

A visionary business and community leader, Nikos believes the true measure of success lies in the ability to help others, so he is passionate in his support of many philanthropic and other endeavors. He is the Founder of the Hellenic American Leadership Council, a professional organization dedicated to the empowerment of the Greek community in the United States and eventually in every country where there is a Greek Diaspora. An organization committed to civic leadership and human rights, members of HALC are involved in the Greek Lobby in the United States.

Nikos is a Benefactor of the Malaika Foundation, helping to educate young girls in the Congo. And a Benefactor of Paradise4Kids, helping to feed, educate and clothe hundreds of Ebola orphans in Sierra Leone. Nikos is also involved with many other organizations that make a difference in the world and has received many honors including the prestigious Ellis Island Medal of Honor.

Born in Karditsa, Greece in 1956, he studied Chemical Engineering in the University of Leeds, from where he graduated with a Master of Science degree. He worked in various industrial enterprises, both in England and in Greece. Since 1984, he has served in several managerial positions in the HELLENIC PETROLEUM Group Refineries, the most notable being that of the Elefsina Refinery Upgrade Project coordination, between 2008 and 2014. He has published technical articles and books on specialized topics and has been the instructor in conferences and technical seminars. He speaks Greek, English and French. He has two children.

Within the Forum’s framework, we issue a special Handbook with articles of market players, speakers at the Forum and other personalities which address the latest developments in the field of Corporate Social Responsibility & entrepreneurship in Greece and abroad.
