Brief profile: The Hellenic Society of Osteoporosis Patients Support is a non-profit organization officially recognized by the International Osteoporosis Foundation (IOF). Founded in 1997, the Hellenic Society of Osteoporosis Patients Support is the only recognized group in Greece addressing to the general public. Its primary objective is to inform the public about osteoporosis, diet and nutrition, physical activity, psychological well-being, prevention, menopause and skeletal health. The Society focuses on providing key information and support via a wide range of activities, such as workshops, which include free bone density measurements, seminars concerning osteoporosis, exercise, diet and psychology, conferences as well as information brochures and pamphlets which aim at increasing public awareness. All these address crucial issues that impact our skeletal health. The aim of the Society is to offer equal services to all citizens in Greece, whether residents of big cities or remote areas. The continuing drive and effort, results in its global recognition twice: Linda Edwards Memorial Award, Miami USA, Dec. 2007 – The Society and Best Media Campaign Award, Finland, June 2013.
