| Brief profile: | The Non-Governmental Organization EQUAL SOCIETY, was established in February 2010, as an independent, non-profit and non-governmental body with actions “Against Social Exclusion, Unemployment and Poverty”. Its main target is to raise awareness and inform the citizens on equal rights, equal treatment and non- discrimination in all areas of social life, particularly in education, professional training, labor market, social security, health and entrepreneurship. • Creating a more inclusive society through a process of open dialogue and participation of all institutions in events against discrimination. • The implementation of programs in collaboration with public or private entities, in Greece and abroad, and also with other NGOs, to promote dialogue in order to strengthen the social integration of citizens regardless of their sex, racial or ethnic origin, religion or belief, disability, age and sexual orientation. • Information, education and development of a culture of equality in matters of labor and social security legislation. • Conducting specialized studies and organizing conferences-workshops- seminars at national and European level, in cooperation with other entities, in order to identify new policies of employment and reintegration into the labor market. • The promotion and implementation of educational programs on vocational • training and skill development. • The promotion of employment and lifelong learning, particularly in groups that experience problems of unequal access to the labor market (such as women, youth, disabled, long-term unemployed, immigrants, refugees, former substance abusers, ex offenders- released prisoners, minorities and generally socially vulnerable groups). • Taking initiatives that promote sustainable economic growth and protection of the environment, in order to create new job positions. |
